Six thoughtfully designed play areas, for calmer, child-led play – and the story behind them
Small+Mighty offers a more considered approach to indoor play in Godalming. Six distinctive play areas invite babies, toddlers and young children to explore movement, imagination, sensory discovery, creativity, problem-solving and quieter connection – all within one calm, modern family space.

Our play environment was developed with input from early-years practitioners and in collaboration with Tiger Play, a leading specialist in play design and manufacture. Rather than filling one room with more of the same, we brought together six complementary play concepts, each offering children a different and developmentally appropriate way to engage with the world around them.
Children can choose what captures their interest: physical exploration, imaginative role play, sensory discovery, creative expression, interactive challenge or small-world storytelling. Together, these experiences create wholesome variety and support independent, child-led play without prescribing one ‘right’ way to take part. It keeps the experience engaging while giving every child space to follow their own ideas.
Our Scandinavian-inspired timber soft play frame, designed and manufactured by Tiger Play, brings tactile physical play into a calm, contemporary setting. Tunnels, cargo nets, bubble windows, bash bags, sensory lighting and wall games invite children to crawl, climb, balance and explore. Manageable challenges allow them to repeat movements, test their abilities and build confidence at their own pace.
Created for pre-walkers from birth to approximately 18 months, our protected Baby Zone offers gentle sensory play for babies. Textured wall games, soft floor materials, mirrors, light features and responsive nature scenes encourage little ones to notice contrast, movement, texture and cause and effect while staying close to their adult.
Our interactive floor and wall-mounted touchscreen respond to children’s movement and touch, transforming the room into games, challenges and immersive sensory scenes. With 37 floor experiences and collaborative touchscreen activities, children can practise taking turns, responding, problem-solving and playing together. Gentler visual modes also invite babies and toddlers to explore movement and cause and effect.
Role play gives children space to revisit familiar experiences, try different perspectives and turn everyday objects into new stories. Our child-height play setting lets them lead – serving, shopping, caring, organising or inventing something entirely their own. Playing alongside adults and other children creates natural opportunities for conversation, cooperation and new vocabulary.
Our Creation Station invites children to experiment, make choices and enjoy the process. A changing programme of seasonal crafts, drawing, colouring, cookery and collaborative activities encourages concentration, self-expression and pride in what they create.
A calm, inviting space for small-world play, where little imaginations can create big adventures. Children can recreate familiar scenes or invent stories using a changing collection of trains, playhouses, miniature characters and small-world toys. Families can also share a book, enjoy pretend play at our child-height mini bistro bar or simply take some quiet time together.
Children do not always want or need the same kind of play. One visit might be full of climbing and movement; another might centre on a miniature train journey, a collaborative game or a quiet story. By bringing six complementary experiences together, Small+Mighty allows children to follow their interests, revisit favourites and move naturally between energy, focus, imagination and rest.

Small+Mighty was designed to feel good for adults as well as children. Our family bistro sits at the centre of the play cafe, with comfortable seating and clear views across the play areas. Considered lighting, a cohesive colour palette, carefully selected materials and genuinely good food and drink turn the visit into shared family time – not simply something for grown-ups to sit through.
Small+Mighty began with a belief that family spaces could feel different: calmer, more thoughtful and every bit as enjoyable for grown-ups as they are for children. Gillian set out to create a beautiful place where little people could confidently follow their own interests – whether they wanted to climb, create, imagine, explore their senses, solve a challenge or curl up with a story.
Every part of Small+Mighty grew from that vision. Gillian created the name, brand and Mighty Monster mascot, and personally shaped everything from the six play concepts and interior to the menu, music and smallest sensory details. Working with early-years practitioners and Tiger Play helped bring her vision for a bespoke, child-led play cafe to life, with every feature carefully selected for a reason.
The result is more than a room filled with play equipment. Small+Mighty is a complete family experience, thoughtfully designed around the different ways children play, develop and connect. It is a warm, modern alternative to traditional soft play – and a place where small moments together become mighty memories.
